Amateur Mafy Singson and Harmie Constantino turned in contrasting even-par 72s on Wednesday to share the lead after the first round of the P750,000 ICTSI Riviera Ladies Challenge at the complex’ Couples layout in Silang, Cavite.
Singson needed to birdie the 18th to catch up with Constantino at the top even as Sunshine Baraquiel, the winner two weeks ago at Highlands in Tagaytay, submitted a birdie-less 76 to be four shots behind going into the final 36 holes.
Chanelle Avaricio, Marvi Monsalve and Daniella Uy carded 73s, with Chihiro Ikeda shooting a 74 to be firmly in the hunt.
“My game was okay but I didn’t finish well,” said Singson, who made the turn at three-under before bogeys in four of her first eight holes heading home had her needing birdie to salvage a share of the lead.
Constantino, the Aoki champion, signed for her third bogey on No. 17 for a 36-36.
